When is enough, enough?

Ever notice how you find yourself making things last that aren’t supposed to. It can be the last chip in the bag, savoring the last crumb, sleep, hitting snooze for that last 5 minutes, or a relationship.  Why do we do that? If we know it’s over why can’t we just eat the last chip, wake up, or just walk away. What makes us allow something that is over with continue to give us that artificial satisfaction?
