I have been meaning to post this for awhile, but I hadn't made time to.
So a goal of mine that I have had for this year is to travel more. I am single and really have no reason not to travel as much as I would like. Completing goals has always been an issue for me.
I tend to have these awesome ideas, but I rarely put any action behind them. In the past I usually only took maybe one trip each year.
This year I set a goal to take two personal trips. I travel a lot for business, but I wanted to actually go on trips that I wanted to go on.
It is August and I have already completed the first half of my goal. Yay me!!
My first trip was to the Essence Festival in New Orleans, LA. I took this trip in June/July. This trip was planned in one sitting. One night at dinner with a good friend of mine, we started talking about the upcoming Essence Festival, and how neither of us had ever been. So we decided to just go!
The next day she purchased the tickets and I purchased the VRBO room. If you have never used the VRBO app it is awesome. Our room cost approximately $400 for the entire weekend. We split the cost of the room and tickets and paid each other whatever difference was owed. I would suggest making sure you trust someone before you start splitting high dollar purchases. It could end badly.
The countdown to the Essence Festival was horrible. I swore once I made the decision to go, my days drug on. I didn't want to go to work anymore, all I could think about was getting to Essence. It was a really long month.
When the weekend for the Festival arrived, I was relieved that we had paid everything in advance. I was able to set aside money for just food and monies to splurge with. I am honestly so happy that I attended this Festival. The concerts were amazing and I learned so much from the conferences. I even got to see Iyanla Vanzant, she is truly an inspiration.
My trip to Essence assured me that if I truly want to travel more it is possible, I am super excited for my next trip.
