A new year is upon us and my goal for this year is to read more books on my book shelf and my to be read (TBR) list. I have so many books that have become fixtures on my book shelf and also books that were recommended to me that I haven’t thought twice about picking up. Well, this is the year to read those books!
I plan to accomplish this goal by finishing a new book each week. I have a SMALL goal to complete 60 books before January 1, 2019. In a good year I generally am able to read more than 60 books. I won’t be reading only 500 page novels of course, I plan to read some smaller books.
I do have a lot going on at work and don’t want to overwhelm myself so I will include my professional development books in my book count. I will also cheat a little and finish some books that I have already started and abandoned.
Tackling my book shelf and TBR list one book at a time will allow me to see the list grow smaller over time. Hopefully by December 2018, I will have a much smaller TBR list 🙂.
(Of course as I wrote that I laughed at myself, TBR lists only grow longer, they will never shrink…..NEVER!)
Currently one of the hardest things about reading is choosing which book to read next. I will eliminate this problem, by simply picking up whichever book is next on my book shelf.
Here’s to 2018 being a year of READING!
