January Books Read
- The Valkyries by Paulo Coelho A beautifully written story about the Authors struggle with spirituality. I am a lover of anything Paulo Coelho writes. He did not disappoint with this true story of how he voyages to become closer to God.
- An Exclusive Love by Johanna Adorjan I didn’t read this book from cover to cover. It does get very morbid at some points. The are descriptions of the Holocaust. This is a beautiful love story though.
- A lesson before dying by Ernest J. Gaines This book is on the Oprah’s Book Club and for a good reason. I love books that can move you emotionally and leave you looking at the world differently. This book was beautifully written. I teared up more than once and found myself crying at the end. I will definitely be looking for more books by this Author.
- Ninth Grade Bites The Chronicles of Vladimir Todd by Heather Brewer This book was my “fun” read for the month. I always like to pick a YA novel to read in the midst of all of my heavy books. This is the second book in the series and YES I will be reading the next book Tenth Grade Bleeds. Thanks to my Cousin for recommending this series to me.
I was one book short of my five book goal for the month. This is because, I spent three days trying to figure out which book to read between my book 3 and book 4. I wasn’t in the mood to read another heavy book. I wanted something light and fun to read. Going forward into February I have created a list of books to read, that are already on my book shelf. I am not sure if I will be able to stick to the list, because I really do have to be in the mood to read certain genres. My goal for February is to read 4 books. I don’t have a lot going on at work so this is an attainable goal. If I make five books even better, but since February is a short month I don’t want to have to rush through any books just to make five. I do tend to read more during the summer months, so I am still on track to reach my goal of 60 books read before Dec 31.
