1. The Book of Esther in the Bible- I read this with my bible study group. It is a very powerful book and it taught me so much about patience, humility, and pride. I have read the Book of Esther before, but being able to discuss it chapter by chapter allowed me to learn so much more from this book.
2. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty- I read this book with the book club “Our Book Club”. This was a slow book to get into. I remember being at Chapter 6 and thinking I am not going to finish this book. Someone who had read the book previously told me that it would get better. I am not sure if it did or didn’t. I only kept reading, because I wanted to know who had died, and I was reading it with a book club. There were some good parts and I did laugh out loud a few times.
3. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl by Harriet Jacobs- This autobiography is so emotional you want to cry, but the courage of Harriet strengthens you to hold back your tears. Harriet is born a slave and at a young age both of her parents die. She is given to a Slave Owner who is the worse. Ultimately she is able to escape to freedom, but her journey getting there is over 8 years. This is a short book, less than 150 pages, but it is so beautifully written.
February was a very busy month for me. I joined two book clubs and a bible study group at the beginning of February. I am not sure why I thought this was a good idea, especially since my work load picked up during February. I was a little overwhelmed with wanting to read so much and also keeping up my work pace. I toned back a lot with reading but I am still reading close to one book per week. I am currently reading a series that I am looking forward to finish book one of.
