She didn’t know what to do.
Her relationship with Terry was definitely over, and Sean didn’t want to be with her. As she sat there on his couch, staring into his eyes she honestly didn’t know why she wanted to be with Sean. He was a very nice looking man, had his own place, a good career. She considered him a good friend, and she knew he would make a great husband, but all he ever talked about was her and her relationship with Terry. She felt like his mission was to fix her, not to love her.
He never talked about his future with her. He never made plans with her. Aside from the sex, she often felt as if he wasn’t even attracted to her.
When she was with Terry, it felt completely different, when she was with Terry she felt wanted. Terry was a future thinker, always talking about where he saw their relationship in the next few years. How he saw them married and living successful careers. Terry was definitely a much better fit for her than Sean.
Sitting there she began to feel a resentment in her that she had never felt before.
Forgot Sean and forget Terry.
She was done with them both. How had she allowed either of them to have her waiting around for something more? She deserved better.
“Sean, I think I better go. Maybe it was a bad idea for me to come over here.”
He looked as if he wanted to say something, but then he took a deep breath and shook his head.
Why couldn’t he ever just tell her what he was thinking? Why was everything such a big secret? She often times she felt like she was begging with Sean. Begging him to be with her, begging him to talk to her. Things were never that complicated with Terry. Terry would never stop talking about how much he wanted to be with her.
She stood up from his couch. “I am going to head home, try to clear my mind of somethings. Call you later?”
She knew that he knew she wasn’t planning on calling him ever again. She wanted, no needed, to be in a relationship. If Sean wouldn’t give her what she wanted, she was attractive enough, and she knew she could always find a replacement for him, and Terry.
“Ok Shelia, take care of yourself. If you need me call me.”
She nodded, not knowing what else there was between them that needed to be said. She walked to the door and opened it.
She didn’t look back as she ran through the rain to her car. Without thinking she started her car, placed it in drive and drove home.
